siMPle: Systematic Identification of MicroPLastics in the Environment
siMPle is a freeware for the fast detection of microplatic materials in environmental samples. Its algorithm compares the IR spectra of the sample with each reference spectra in the database, then assigns a material to them along with a probability score.

Open-access FTIR Sepctra Library
The FTIR Sepctra Library is critical to detect the plastic particles in the environmental samples. Three useful and open-access IR libraries can be found in papers by Primpke et al. (2020) and Frond et al. (2021).

Reference Microplastics for Interlaboratory Calibration
Using proper Reference materials is one of key steps to facilitate comparability of microplastic (1 μm to 5 mm) measurements. Recent work has explored how to prepare reference microplastics for large-scale interlaboratory comparisons. You can find the papers by Oster et al. (2020), Martínez-Francés et al. (2023) and Seghers et al. (2022).
